中国人民解放军军事医学科学院是中国人民解放军的最高医学研机构，
下设11个研究机构和
307医院、解放军医学图书馆、实验仪器厂、实验
动物中心、研究生队等附属机构，驻地分布于北京、天津、吉林、黑龙
江四省市。主要承担军事医学、基础医学、生物技术、卫生装备和药物研究
任务，肩负军事斗争卫勤准备、反恐防恐卫勤准备和疾病防控卫勤准备使命。

Founded in 1958, the Institute of Materia Medica (IMM) at Chinese
Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical 
College is one of
the national research organization for key drugs. Its mandate is to discover
and research innovative drugs for
treating or preventing human diseases,
to create our own intellectual-property rights new drugs, to research
traditional herbal 
medicine and natural products. Adopting modern medicine
new theories and high technology, IMM carries out multidisciplinary
comprehensive research. Principle research efforts at IMM focus on drugs of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative 
and psychiatric diseases, infectious and inflammation diseases, hepatitis, virus, diabetes mellitus, degenerative diseases and so on.
