Founded in 1958, the Institute of Materia Medica (IMM) at Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical
College is one of the national research organization for key drugs. Its mandate is to discover and research innovative drugs for
treating or preventing human diseases, to create our own intellectual-property rights new drugs, to research traditional herbal
medicine and natural products. Adopting modern medicine new theories and high technology, IMM carries out multidisciplinary
comprehensive research. Principle research efforts at IMM focus on drugs of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative
and psychiatric diseases, infectious and inflammation diseases, hepatitis, virus, diabetes mellitus, degenerative diseases and so on.
